What We Do
The CDCS is able to offer grants to families to help with the additional costs arising from, for example, assessment for a cochlear implant. We can also help towards specialist equipment, particularly for children with complex needs.
Communication is a key issue and funding can be provided for BSL classes at various levels, when this is appropriate.
We also support educational enhancement activities for the children, and social events for deaf youngsters and their families.
Groups supported by the CDCS
Based mostly in the west of the County, but open to everyone, these active groups are affiliated to and supported by CDCS.
Deaf Kids and Families Cornwall (DKaF) is a group for deaf children and their families where they can get and offer support to other families. The group meets every second Saturday of the month and families can meet and join in a variety of activities including days out together. Further information can be found on their Facebook group page – search for DKaF.
Matez4Funz is a youth group for deaf young people, organised by the Rev Debbie Harvey.
